REQUIREMENTS FOR CALIFORNIA BROKER LICENSE

All applicants for the real estate broker license are required to have two years full time experience as a real estate salesperson (or the equivalent); OR, graduation from a four year college or university in any major.  Also, all applicants must have completed eight college level courses in addition to the experience and education requirements. These eight courses must include the following five courses:

  • Real Estate Practice

  • Legal Aspects of Real Estate

  • Real Estate Appraisal

  • Real Estate Finance

  • Real Estate Economics or Accounting

The remaining three courses are to be selected from the following:

  • Real Estate Principles

  • Real Estate Office Administration

  • Business Law

  • Mortgage Loan Brokering & Lending

  • Escrows

  • Property Management

  • Common Interest Developments

  • Computer Applications in Real Estate

IMPORTANT NOTE:

College-level courses in Economics, Accounting or Business Law may be used as substitutes for certain of the above named courses.
